Conditions and timing — the hinge words of real conversation
Agar (if) and jab (when) let you build two-part thoughts: if it rains, we stay home. Urdu loves to close the first half with to (then) — agar…to, jab…tab. Master the hinges and your sentences double in length.
اگر وقت ہو تو آ جائیںagar waqt ho to ā jāeṉ — If you have time, come overThe classic desi invitation — agar…to holding it together. Waqt = time.

Good to know
✨ English says 'when you COME, we'll eat' — present tense first. Urdu keeps both halves honest: jab āp āeṉ ge, ham khāeṉ ge — future on both sides.
✨ The agar…to pairing is so natural that dropping the to sounds slightly abrupt — it's the breath between condition and consequence.
✨ Jab bhī (whenever), jo bhī (whatever), jahāṉ bhī (wherever) — bolt bhī onto a question word and it becomes an 'any-' word. One trick, a whole word family.
